Marvel Studios’ Blade has been through a lot of turmoil. The film was announced quite a long time ago in 2019 with Mahershala Ali set to star, and in that time, we’ve seen Wesley Snipes return as Blade before the movie was made. Marvel Studios has removed Blade from its release schedule, it was dated for November 7th, 2025. In good news, Marvel added three projects to the schedule for February 18th, 2028, May 5th, 2028, and November 10th, 2028. It makes sense that Blade would get bumped, Bob Iger said in an earnings call that Marvel would release a maximum of three movies a year going forward. The three movies set for 2025 include Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

As of right now, Blade is still searching for a director after Yann Demange left the project in June. The script is currently written by Eric Pearson after drafts by Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo, and Nic Pizzolatto. Blade is an incredibly popular character in the comics with fans and we’ve been waiting for his return to the screen.

The original Blade movie saved what we know as Marvel Studios now when it released, giving the studio enough cash to keep going with movies.

The movie taking over Blade‘s slot at Disney is the upcoming Predator: Badlands from Dan Trachtenberg.
