Scott Foley (Scream 3, The Girls on the Bus) has joined the cast of Scream 7 according to Deadline. They’re reporting that details regarding his character are under wraps and the plot is also unknown for right now. Foley, if you didn’t know, played Roman Bridger, the half-brother of Sidney Prescott who was the Ghostface killer in that third film.

Now, you might be asking yourself, how could a dead character come back? Well, unless there’s some sort of magical powers in the Scream universe, dead characters have come back in various ways before. In Scream 3, we got Jamie Kennedy’s return on video and in Scream (2022) we got the return of Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis as a vision in his daughter’s head.

There are plenty of possibilities for a return for Roman and it’s up to the writers of Scream 7, Guy Busick, to find out. Foley joins the previously announced cast of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, and Mark Consuelos.

Franchise creator Kevin Williamson is directing the film. The original run of the series was Scream to Scream 3. Then we got Scream 4 in 2011, which was the final film in the series directed by Wes Craven. It returned in 2022 with Scream and the most recent film was Scream VI. That film came out in March 2023 and holds the franchise record for highest domestic box office gross with more than $108 million. The next film could push the franchise over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Who Is Scott Foley And Details About Scream 7?

Scott Foley has been busy since his film debut in Scream 3. He’s starred in films like Below, Naked, and shows like Whiskey Cavalier, Scandal, and The Girls on the Bus.

Scream 7 has seen some major turmoil behind the scenes even before it went into production. It was originally set to be directed by Christopher Landon with Radio Silence dropping out to direct Abigail and Ready Or Not 2Scream 5 and VI star Melissa Barerra was fired by Spyglass Media for her comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Jenna Ortega also had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with Wednesday and other projects. The two leading ladies signaled the end of that era of the franchise. Landon dropped out as director soon after. Kevin Williamson was brought on in his stead to direct the film with a script from Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt.
