Harley Quinn and her friends are almost back. Max has just unleashed the first trailer for Season 5 of the insane animated series, giving us a great look at Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Ivy (Lake Bell) moving to Metropolis. It takes the series away from Gotham City for the first time and brings them something bigger in the city of Superman. There are new villains, heroes, and more that await all of us in Season 5 of the DC Animated Series. The newly announced premiere arrives on Max on January 16th.

Metropolis offers up a fresh start for the couple and their friends, and it seems like the perfect place. Especially when you compare it to Gotham, they realize the city is a flaming mess with toxic waste and lawlessness. Ivy becomes the head of the Mayor’s new green initiative, and everyone embraces their new environment. With a new city comes new villains though, especially ones that Superman has faced time and time again, like Braniac. He plans to erase all imperfections from the world. Those imperfections are what make the characters of Harley Quinn who they are.

Bane (James Adomian) also makes his return, taking on artificial intelligence throughout the season. Season 4 ended with a tease of the Gotham City Sirens, so that has to be in the fifth season somewhere. With all these characters facing new environments and challenges, it looks like Harley Quinn Season 5 is the most chaotic yet. Add into it the presence of Superman, and you’ve got a new season of TV that DC fans don’t want to miss.

We’ll have to see how it all turns out, especially with the new era of DC underway with James Gunn. They recently premiered their first new project in Creature Commandos. James Gunn wrote the new animated series which features a new group of ragtag characters (some heroes, some villains) thrown together to do the things even the Suicide Squad won’t.
